Over 100 students from nearly 40 NSW & Victorian government schools registered for the first ever online Adobe Holiday Video Challenge.
This was a free 2.5-day online workshop by Adobe during the April 2021 school holidays for Vic & NSW Government secondary students (Year 9 and higher) and teachers who were keen develop their video editing skills with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Most of the students and teachers involved in this event were new to Premiere Pro so the first day (Monday April 12) involved learning the basics.
During day 1 we also introduced the students to the challenge/competition side of the event where the first prize was an iPad Air and Apple Pencil as well as a 12 month Adobe Stock license all to the value of over $1500.
The Challenge was to create a 1 minute video based on a set criteria that promotes one of the 17 United Nations Sustainability Goals to an audience of teenagers.
The students had between the workshop days (Monday & Wednesday) and the morning of Friday April 16 to complete and submit their one-minute videos.
The teachers were the judges and provided a score for the following criteria:
- Story structure
- Sound quality
- Music score
- Message Effectiveness
- Call to Action
The following videos were from the finalists who all presented at a special online showcase event on Friday April 16.
1st Place – Goal 14 by Angelina
2nd Place – Maybe by Riley
3rd Place – Climate by Jimmy
Actual Climate Change by Jannica
Goal 16 by Angus

Goal 2 by Jakob

The students did a great job putting together these videos.
I would like to thank all the students for their hard work and all the teachers for their support.
A very special thank you to JB Tinker from Certiport who was also a judge and provided all involved in this event with free access to the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Premiere Pro certification examination. He also promoted the coming ACA World Championship event in August.
