The first of a series of Adobe in Queensland Classrooms roadshow events was held yesterday at Brisbane Girls Grammar School. Up to 80% of Queensland schools have now opted into purchasing and deploying the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of software as well as a range of other associated software, so these events are aimed at helping teachers understand what they and their students have and how this software can enhance the teaching and learning process.

State, independent, Catholic and Lutheran teachers from around Brisbane took part in a range of presentations and workshops all highlighting the education value of Adobe software. Yesterday we ran a day session from 8.30 AM to 3.00 PM and then a second group of teachers arrived for a twilight session from 4.00PM to 7.30 PM.

I shared some of Adobe’s research and the wider thought leadership around why creativity is essential across all areas of education. I also focused on how the Adobe Education Exchange is making a big impact is teacher professional learning.

Sally Mack (QLD Adobe Campus Leader) ran a workshop on Adobe Flash and inspired a number of the teachers how animation can enhance teaching and learning.

Heidi Fisher from IC Central shared the value of Adobe Certification and ran workshop sessions with teachers who were keen to take advantage of the fact that qualifying with the ACA certification provides Queensland students with credit towards their QCE senior secondary certificate.

Data#3 is Adobe’s partner in QLD that helps schools purchase and deploy the Adobe products. It was great to have Kim Sheppard from Data#3 provide the teachers with opt in, deployment and training options. Sarah Hiscock and Renee Fogg, also from Data#3, were really helpful throughout the day providing help with registration, food breaks and general information about what Data#3 offer to schools.
