On Monday 29th August 2022, Frankston High School, on Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula, hosted an Adobe Day.

Adobe Days are typically all-day digital creativity activities hosted by a school and run by the Adobe Education team.

During this Adobe Day, a mixture of Year 7 to 10 English, Media and Art classes rotated through a series of lessons and activities with Dr Tim Kitchen from Adobe based on a range of apps and topics such as:

• Infographics with Adobe Express
• Introduction to vector art with Adobe Illustrator
• Tips and tricks with Photoshop
• Making social posters with Adobe Express
• Real-time animation with Adobe Character Animator
• Video editing on the go with Premiere Rush

During each session the importance of developing creativity skills was emphasised and the everyone had an opportunity to access and create with the Adobe tools that the Victorian Government have provided to all of their Secondary school students and teachers.

At lunchtime, a number of students from a rage of levels took part in a special competition where they had 10 minutes to build an infographic poster based on a particular topic and set of criteria. The winners won Adobe merchandise and chocolate.

After school, a number of teachers, as well as visiting teachers, attended a special Adobe in Education professional learning event that covered a range of Adobe applications and how they can be used to enhance digital literacy, creativity, collaboration and engagement within a wide range of curriculum areas and levels. During this session, Dr Kitchen promoted the value of the Adobe Education Exchange which currently involves about 1,145,000 teachers as well as the Adobe Creative Educator program and the coming APAC Adobe Education Summit.
