Sydney Boys High comes to Adobe

IMG_3061a

On Tuesday October 13, a group of talented Year 9 students from Sydney Boys High School visited the Adobe office in Darling Harbour for an Adobe Day focusing on video production.

Before getting stuck into their video projects, the boys had a tour of the Adobe office.

The boys enjoyed the facilities in the Adobe lunch room.

They met with Adobe Solution Consultant Jamie Ragen.

After the office tour, the boys were given a challenge to produce a 2 minute video or short film within the confines of the Adobe office that followed the seven second rule, where the visuals change at least every seven seconds to keep the interest of an audience.

uLearn 2015

IMG_3004a

uLearn is one of the largest education conferences in New Zealand and this year it was held in Auckland at the Skycity Convention Centre with close to 2000 teachers involved.

I had the privileged of running some presentations and workshops for about 150 teachers. Many of them were exposed to Adobe software and resources for the very first time.

The resources I shared at this conference are available on the Adobe Education Exchange  via:

Adobe Youth Voices in Auckland

IMG_2980a

It was delightful meeting with the team at High Tech Youth (HTY) in Auckland, New Zealand today who run the NZ Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) program.

As outlined on their website, HTY have four core objectives that align nicely with AYV:

  • To empower young people and communities to become more capable, creative, and confident life long learners.
  • To foster the growth of a learning community, through the sharing of ideas and support.
  • To encourage in young people the development of a positive identity and belief in their potential, through linking cultural knowledge and values with technology.
  • To champion, support, manage, research and implement services and projects that will further the above objectives within New Zealand and the Pacific

It was great meeting again with Hohepa Spooner in Auckland today. Hohepa is a key part of the Centre for Learning and Teaching at Auckland University of Technology and has been instrumental in the creative and innovative use of Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite with Adobe InDesign.

The following video is an interview I did in 2014 with Hohepa focusing on some of his work.

BIL_1361

An amazing group of creative educators from throughout Australia have just finished two days of creativity, inspiration and fun at the APAC Adobe Education Community (AEC) Leadership Summit in Sydney.

After a wonderful dinner/cruise the night before on the beautiful Sydney Harbour, we started the second day of the AEC Summit with three excellent Creative Catalyst Talks by Sue Bell (AEL, Tas), Brett Kent (AEL, NSW) and Jessica Gauci (ACL, NSW).
