On Thursday May 26, Newtown Primary School in Geelong, Victoria was the location for a day of digital creativity with Adobe Express apps on the iPad.
The Digital Learning team at the Victorian Department of Education recently helped the school access these Adobe apps and I was invited to spend some time with the all the Year 2, 3 & 4 students. We started our session together with some singing to get them all in a creative mood.
Then, after doing a brainstorming activity based on words that are linked to being creative, the students logged into the Adobe Express app and made an info-graphic about creativity.

The afternoon was spent with the Year 5 & 6 students and teachers. We were able to do a similar activity with them but also converted their infographic into a video story with the iPad version of Spark Video based on the following plan.

The students were encouraged to work with a partner and to add their own creativity to the video. They came up with some amazing results.

At the end of the day, the school played host to a special hybrid version of an Adobe TeachMeets session featuring Newtown teachers as well as teachers from all over the APAC region with a range of online presenters.

I’d like to thank Patrick O’Meara (Year 5/6 teacher & ICT Coordinator) as well as Newtown PS Principal Corrie Barclay for making this day possible.
