I was known as OG (Old Gangster – more realistically Old Guy) when the global Adobe Education Team met in San Francisco last week. With a group of outstanding new education experts representing all regions of Nth America, it was a great opportunity to connect with wider global team members for four days of intensive training, fun and lots of avocado.
The first two days involved training with just the Adobe K-12 Education Evangelist and Community team getting to know each other, sharing resources and planning. We were joined in the final two days by the wider Adobe Education Higher Ed, Sales, Marketing, Support and Product teams.
It has been great to see the growth and focus that Adobe has had on Education since I joined the team back in 2013. What was a small team back then has developed into a major force within this international software juggernaut.
The highlight for me was catching up friends and colleagues who I have known for years as well as meeting new team members who have recently joined.
It is a real privilege to be working with these guys and helping to share the value of Adobe’s amazing digital creativity tools with students and teachers around the globe and striving for our mission to inspire and empower the next generation to be lifelong creators.
Register for the APAC Adobe Education Summit where you will hear from the global Adobe Edu team and local teachers who are making a very positive difference with Adobe tools in the classroom.
About 400 students from schools all around Brisbane, visited the University of Queensland earlier today for the first face to face Big Day In events for a long time.
It was a delight to share the importance of creativity as a vital skill to thrive in the future based on research from the World Economic Forum and provide the students with examples of how they can enhance their digital creativity skills with the help from the many Adobe apps available in most schools.
The very innovative River City Labs Precinct (home of the Australian Computer Society in Brisbane) was the venue for a special face to face and online (hybrid) professional learning event for about 12 teachers face to face and about 20 online.
I would like to thank Brisbane based Adobe Education Leader Nalin Naidoo for helping assist the teachers in the room and online throughout this all day event.
I would also like to thank Matthew Jorgensen and Jason Cooper from the Australian Computer Society for helping to organisite and manage this event.
Feedback results were very pleasing with 94% agreeing that the content was relevant and useful and that they would recommend a similar session to their peers.

I was delighted to be invited to present a keynote and two workshops at the 2022 Albert Park College (APC) staff conference that was focused on Creativity in Education.
APC is an inner-Melbourne government school that opened in 2010 with only a handful of staff and students and has grown into one of Victoria’s most well regarded and highest performing schools with close to 1,500 students and three campuses.
Foundation Principal Steven Cook leads a passion team of educators and support staff that really drive the school’s values of Lead, Create, Inspire.
Each year, Steven and his team run special conference event for all teaching and non-teaching staff that involves arriving at the venue (in this case the beautiful RACV County Club & Resort in Healesville) on a Sunday, staying overnight and making the most of a student free day on the Monday.
Some of the teachers who have only worked at APC thought all schools did this for their staff.
Keynote presenters this year included Alex Wadelton(Creativity Evangelist, Co-founder The Right-brain Workout, Co-founder/Creative Director at Silver Lining Agency), Associate Professor Neryl Jeanneret Artistic and Creative Education expert from The University of Melbourne and myself.
I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the staff and students at APC in the near future.
