What an amazing Summit!
The 2021 APAC Adobe Education Summit took place over three days from September 28-30 with over 1000 teachers from 30+ countries joining in live during the open day on Wed Sept 29. Have a look at this post about the event featuring links to the various recordings.

The Adobe Creative Educator Programis all about creativity in education. You don’t need to be an Adobe export or even a regular Adobe user to get your level 1 (Credly) badge.
If you would like to be supported through level 1, you may like to do the Be a Creative Educator course. Next opportunities are Mon 18th Oct or Tue 16th Nov – 4 PM to 6.30 PM (AEDT).
About 20 students from Queensland University of Technology took up the opportunity to be involved with a recent Adobe Creativity Challenge. Over 20 QUT (Queensland University of Technology) students from a range of faculty areas took part in an Adobe Creativity Challenge where participants are encouraged to work with a team to design & share a digital solution (with Adobe tools) to a problem.
In this case, the problem was based around promoting one or more of the 17 United Nation Sustainability Goals. Solution options could include any of the following …
a 1 min video made with either Adobe Spark, Premiere Rush, Character Animator, After Effects &/or Premiere Pro.
a mobile app design with Adobe XD & Photoshop
a poster/flyer with Adobe Spark, InDesign, Illustrator &/or Photoshop
an animation with Adobe Animate

The 2021 Summit began on Tuesday Sept 28 with a pre-conference event exclusively for Adobe Education Leaders (AELs). Then, on Wednesday 29th the open day commenced with a set of presentations from the Global Adobe Education Team in the USA.
Dr Brian Johnsrun (Adobe’s Director of Education Learning & Advocacy) provided an Adobe in Education Global Overview update with a focus on resources on the Adobe Education Exchange.

One of the highlights for many watching live was the series of Classroom Success Stories that commenced with Brett Kent from the NSW DoE, Juliette Bentley from Mt St Michael’s College in Brisbane and Erin Raethke from TAFE QLD focusing on their use of Adobe Spark. Next up was Ali Blackwell from Melville Senior High School, Perth and Craig Daalmeijer-Power from TAFE NSW with theor Classroom Success Story on the use of Adobe InDesign. Click here to access.

Only days to go until the 2021 APAC Adobe Education Summit
So far, about 550 teachers have registered for the open day of the 2021 APAC Adobe Education Summit – Wednesday 29th September. This is a free and virtual event for all teachers at any level and any curriculum area that will involve presentations and inspiration from the global Adobe Education Team, Adobe Solution Consultants and Adobe Education Leaders.
The Summit will commence at 9 AM AEST with 30 min breaks each hour. Note that the first and last session of this day will be broadcast live on the official Adobe for Education YouTube Channel and the whole day will be live via Vimeo Livestream. Please register to access the Vimeo Livestream link.

Creativity Challenge for NSW schools
A number of talented Year 7-9 students from a variety of NSW schools took on a recent Adobe Creativity Challenge and worked in virtual teams to create short video clips that promoted good hand hygiene.
Wednesday 22nd September was the recording of the fiftieth episode of Inject Creativity Live. What started as an initiative from the Adobe Education Team during lock-down 2020, Inject Creativity Live is now a regular part of Adobe’s adoption program for the APAC region. Even while battling the restrictions of lock-down, as part of an Adobe Creativity Challenge event, a number of talented NSW Year 7-9 students were able to work in virtual teams to create short video clips that promoted good hand hygiene.
Adobe Creative Challenges are all about working with a team to design & share a digital solution to a problem. In this case, the problem was that many people tend to rush the important process of good hand hygiene. The solution was to work in a team of between 3 and 5 to produce a video (no longer that 1 minute) made with either Adobe Spark, Premiere Rush; Character Animator, After Effects &/or Premiere Pro.
The NSW Department of Education provide Adobe applications for all of their schools for teachers and students to enhanec their digital literacy, communication and creativity skills.
This challenge was for NSW Year 7-9 students and over 260 were initially registered from 9 schools. In the end, 20 short films were showcased from 5 schools. Even though not everyone was able to complete a film in the time required, the process of working in a team, planning, filming and editing a short film is always a valuable exercise and lots can be learned through the process.
A key highlight with this Adobe Creativity Challenge was the involvement of Marcus Bolton from Cutting Edge, a leading provider of sound and picture post production for the advertising, features & television industries, both in Australia and internationally.

Marcus’ career spans over a quarter of a century in the Australian feature film, television and advertising industry as a senior compositor, post-production manager, and visual effects supervisor. Having Marcus to help provide guidance and inspiration to the students was outstanding and a wonderful opportunity for all the students and teachers involved.
A special thank you also goes to Peter O’Doherty, Senior Project Officer of the NSW DoE Regional Industry Education Partnerships, for his help to organise and manage this event.

Last week, I was delighted to be involved in a couple of events for South East Asian teachers and students. The biggest of these featured nearly 3,000 registrations from Indonesia.
A great mix of higher education & K12 teachers and students were involved in this event. It was an honour to share the virtual stage with Dr Hilmer Farid, the Director General of Culture with the Indonesian Ministry of Education as well as Professor Abdul Haris, the Vice Rector of Academics and Students Affairs at the University of Indonesia.
