For the past three years, I have had the pleasure to be involved with a special event by the Pacific Links Foundation for Vietnamese students who are risk of trafficking.
Last Saturday, I ran four digital creativity workshops based on publishing posters with Adobe Express.
Each workshop involved logging the students into the free version of Adobe Express on a range of devices such as phones, android tablets and laptops. Then we used the chat feature on Zoom to brainstorm the things we love doing in our spare time.
We used those ideas to create a digital poster with Adobe Express titled This is me.
I was assisted at each session by some wonderful translators. Most of the students has very little English but they managed really well and seems to really enjoy learning some new digital creativity skills.
Adobe Express is a fabulous set of apps to enhance digital creativity and communication skills. The aim of these workshops was to encourage the student to introduce them to a new set of skills and resources that they can use at school and in their own time and motivate them to develop even more skills that they can use to enhance their future employment prospects.
I shared the Get to Know Adobe Express resource for the students to share with their teachers and friends to help them all get to know more about this amazing portal of creativity.
I’m looking forward to being involved again next year.
To complete Term 2, Shelford Girls Grammar School in Melbourne hosted an ‘Arts Alive’ week of art related activities with their Year 9 students. At the start of the week, I was invited to introduce Adobe Express as a digital portfolio tool. At the end of the week, I joined them to see what they achieved.
Special thank you to Mrs Deb Pettigrew who organised this engagement. I look forward to seeing more work from these creative young ladies.

It’s not every day that a school gets the education teams from Apple, Google, Microsoft, Adobe and a range of other digitech providers all together on the same day to work with their staff. Well this did happen yesterday (Fri June 10, 2022) at The King’s School in Sydney at a special event called KingsTech 2022.
The whole King’s staff enjoyed a rotation of workshop and demonstration opportunities including:
Premiere Rush
Adobe Express
Acrobat & InDesign
Microsoft OneNote
Minecraft Education
Apple Education
Google Integrated Education
ClickView Masterclass
Adobe Solution Consultant Steve Nichols ran the Acrobat & InDesign sessions and I ran the Express & Rush sessions. It was delightful to see the staff so excited about integrating these technologies into their curriculum areas.
I’d like to congratulate Roshan De Silva, Dean of Digital Learning and Innovation at The King’s School and his team for putting on this event and look forward to seeing how it can potentially be expanded in the future.
Back in April 2019, I ran a video challenge at The Kings School with students from a range of other schools. Here is what we happened …
Episode 66 of the Inject Creativity Live show features an interview with Blake Wilton (content creator) where he shared the value of learning Adobe tools when he was at school (NSW DoE) and how this has benefited him in his current career. Adobe Master Teacher (APAC) Juliette was my co-host for this episode and Jerry Wong was back behind the scene.
This episode also features an Adobe Express demo where we look at the learn feature and a promotion for the coming APAC Adobe Education Summit.
Enjoy the show …

i-Educate is the main technology in education event for teachers who work in Queensland Government schools. It was held this week as a face to face event in Brisbane on May 30 & 31 and then a virtual event for the rest of the week.
About 700 teachers, IT experts and support staff were involved in a very successful celebration of what is possible in the world of ICT in Education.
The highlight of the conference was (naturally) the Adobe workshop on Character Animator of Premiere Rush titled – Giving students a voice that I ran with Education QLD teacher and Adobe Education Leader MJ Raatz.
It was wonderful to see and hear about all the great ideas the teachers came up with to use Character Animator and Rush to enhance the teaching & learning process, especially with students who are not physically or mentally able to present in front of an audience.
A personal highlight for me was catch up with Dr Jordan Nguyen who I have share a stage with on a few occasions at various education events. He is always so inspiring.
After the face to face conference in Brisbane, I traveled north to the Sunshine Coast an ran a series of virtual events at the amazing Digital Futures Hub at The Sunshine Coast University.
On Thursday May 26, Newtown Primary School in Geelong, Victoria was the location for a day of digital creativity with Adobe Express apps on the iPad.
The Digital Learning team at the Victorian Department of Education recently helped the school access these Adobe apps and I was invited to spend some time with the all the Year 2, 3 & 4 students. We started our session together with some singing to get them all in a creative mood.
Then, after doing a brainstorming activity based on words that are linked to being creative, the students logged into the Adobe Express app and made an info-graphic about creativity.
The afternoon was spent with the Year 5 & 6 students and teachers. We were able to do a similar activity with them but also converted their infographic into a video story with the iPad version of Spark Video based on the following plan.
The students were encouraged to work with a partner and to add their own creativity to the video. They came up with some amazing results.
At the end of the day, the school played host to a special hybrid version of an Adobe TeachMeets session featuring Newtown teachers as well as teachers from all over the APAC region with a range of online presenters.
I’d like to thank Patrick O’Meara (Year 5/6 teacher & ICT Coordinator) as well as Newtown PS Principal Corrie Barclay for making this day possible.
Adobe was pleased to support the QUT (Queensland University of Technology) Business School BlueShift business case competition for secondary school students. Compare the Market was the subject of the case study for all the student groups as they were challenged to adapted the marketing and use of their Simples app to attract new users, encourage more frequent interactions and provide more commercial value.
I had the pleasure of being one of the judges for the final and enjoyed seeing the students present their pitches including the use of a range of Adobe applications.
I’d like to thank Adobe Senior Customer Success Manager Jerry Wong for organising Adobe’s involvement in this event as well as a series of events with TAFE QLD and The University of Queensland.
