The Adobe Creative Educator Program is all about creativity in education, you don’t need to be an Adobe export or even a regular Adobe user to get your level 1 badge. We encourage all who have enrolled to complete level 1 and have a go at level 2.
If you would like to be supported through level 1, you may like to do the Be a Creative Educator course. Next opportunities are 30th August and 15th September.

Adobe Creativity Challenge with NSW Students
Earlier this month, the Adobe Education team had the pleasure of working with about 200 NSW students (all virtually) as they attempted an Adobe 1 minute Video Challenge based on promoting the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals. Part of the challenge required the students working with a team, even though they were stuck at their own homes. The results were spectacular. Click here to see Tim Kitchen’s post about this event and contact the Adobe Education team if you are keen to organise a similar event for your region.
Speaking of the Adobe Education Exchange, have you noticed the new look and feel and (most importantly) a much easier way to search for courses and resources.

Writing classes on the Education Exchange
Inspire students to express themselves in new and exciting ways with these activities.
The EduTECH conference is the largest technology in education event in Australia with over 10,000 teachers registering this year. It was meant to be a face-to-face event hosted in Melbourne (for the first time) on 17th & 18th August however, due to Covid restrictions, it was again a virtual event – similar to last year.
Adobe was pleased to again be sponsoring this event and hosted a one hour seminar session on day two.
Here is the pre-recorded session that made up the bulk of that seminar. It features about 25 Adobe Education Leaders from around ANZ, members of the Global Adobe Education team as Rob the Robot (Character Animator puppet).
It was a delight to have Lauren Sayer Executive Director Research and Innovation at Melbourne Girls Grammar and Michelle Dennis, Head of Digital at Haileybury College. Also joining us was be Jerry Wong Customer success manager at Adobe, Jane Chen and Steven Nichols who are both Adobe Solution Consultants.
About 200 NSW students from 18 schools registered for a special Adobe 1 Minute Video Challenge event that was run early in August, 2021 while they were in lock-down. This involved the students working with a team (even though they were not allowed to meet face to face) and following a set of criteria to produce a 1 minute video story that helped to promote one of the 17 United Nations Sustainability Development Goals.
They were briefed with the challenge on Tuesday 10th August and they had until 10AM on Monday 16th to submit their video story for a special online showcase event that happened later that same day.
Out of the 18 schools who registered, I’d like to congratulate the following 7 schools who ended up submitting stories:
Cathwest Innovation College
The King’s School
Parramatta Marist High
Patrician Brothers College
St Luke’s Catholics College
St Mark’s Catholics College
Newcastle Grammar
Overall, there were about 30 stories submitted and 20 of them were showcased. Out of the 20, below are the stories that I would like to highlight and share.
A special thank you goes to Luke Dela Cruz Technology Leader at CathWest Innovation College who help to initiate and promote this event within his network for schools in Sydney’s west. I would also like to thank all the teachers who helped motivate their students to be involved and (most importantly) all the students who took part.
During the briefing I stressed to the students that the end product is not as important at the process and the learning that takes place during the production phases. I shared with them the most in demand soft-skills according to research by the World Economic Forum and Microsoft LinkedIn such as creativity, persuasion, collaboration, adaptability and time management. All of these skills were important in the production of the video stories and I congratulate the students for the way they displayed each of them.
Climate Change by Kevin, Rian, Thanh, Zayne, Bill & Bailey – Patrician Brothers’ College Fairfield
I love the fast paced editing to help share an important message
Climate Action by Alex & Achyuth – The King’s School
I loved the link of Minecraft & Adobe Premiere Rush as a tool for telling a story
Change – by Aesha, Tanvi & Malka – St Luke’s Catholic College
This is a creative example of collaboration on a project while in lock-down.
Climate Change by Cameron and Aredith – The Kings School
Gender Equality by Kaitlan & Sophie – CathWest Innovation College

I was delighted to again be asked to run some virtual Adobe Spark workshops at the 2021 Pacific Links Foundation Summer Camp for teens at risk of trafficking in Vietnam.
As it says in the Pacific Links site – As part of Pacific Links Foundation’s comprehensive counter-trafficking efforts, Summer Camp is an annual activity of our Girls Empowerment Mekong Scholarships Program. Over four days, scholarship recipients come together from the remote and impoverished areas of the Mekong Delta bordering Cambodia to build confidence, compassion and vital connections that will safeguard them from the dangers of human trafficking. At its core, Summer Camp is a youth development endeavor. The camp’s goal is to provide a space for students to make new friends, learn about different career and training opportunities, and to work on personal growth through the guiding values of GRACES (Gratitude, Respect, Accountability, Courage, Engagement, and Safety).
Together we produced a set of Spark Posters about the things we love doing in our spare time.
I ran a total of 4 workshops over the weekend with about 30 students in each session. During each workshop I encouraged the participants to keep developing these digital creativity skills and apply them in future studies, leisure and work.
I’d like to thank the translators who helped me run these sessions and the organisers of the camp.
Adobe is thrilled to announce we just crossed the 1 million member milestone on the Education Exchange (EdEx)! Thank you to all of you who have helped to promote this amazing portal to your colleagues and wider education networks. We will have a special celebration at next week’s Inject Creativity Live show.
Since the last edition of this newsletter, over half of Australian classrooms have gone back to remote learning. This can be very stressful for teachers, students and parents. It’s worth noting that schools all over the globe are in the same predicament which is why Adobe continue to develop resources for remote, distance and blended learning through the Free Distance Learning Resources & Project Ideas site.
